I close my eyes and time travel back to 8901 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood in the late eighties when Guns n Roses, L.A Guns and Faster Pussycat were the bands that played at Whiskey A Go Go and owned the sleaze rock scene.
I open my eyes again and I’m still on Lilla torg in Kristianstad and I see a hungry band called Straysand Effect. A relatively young band formed in 2022 here in the southern parts of Sweden.
They have done their sleaze homework and their EP released earlier this year does not disappoint anyone who likes that genre.
Today’s gig at Lilla Torg, which by the way is organised by Studiefrämjandet, they played songs like ”Like What I See” and ”Raised The Bar” and a dedicated audience was on the train right away. Speaking of trains, we also got to hear a cover and of course it was the Guns N Roses song ”Nightrain”.
Behind the drums we find a bundle of energy named Tristan Wesseus and he had a stage presence as if he had never done anything else. Tight as can be and showed with both grimaces and drumsticks and of course you get extra points for that.
It will be really fun to follow both Tristan and Straysand Effect in the future and see how far it can take them.
